How We Qualify Leads Before They Ever Reach Sales

SmartAgents' contact form now captures sector and budget alongside the basics -- a small change that changes what a sales conversation looks like before it even starts.

A contact form that only asks for a name, email, and message tells sales nothing about who they're about to call. SmartAgents' contact form now also asks for sector and budget range -- fields that were technically present in the form before but weren't actually being validated, saved, or shown anywhere in the admin, a gap found and fixed as part of a recent review. The change is small in code -- a migration, a couple of validation rules, a few new admin columns -- but the effect on a sales conversation is real. Instead of opening a call with "so, tell me about your business," the person on the other end already knows the sector and roughly what budget they're working with. That's the difference between a generic pitch and a relevant one. It also means leads can be triaged before anyone picks up the phone. A submission with a clear sector and a realistic budget range is a different priority than one with neither -- and now that distinction is visible in the data, not buried in a free-text message field someone has to read line by line. For a small team, this kind of qualification-at-the-source is what makes the difference between "we'll get back to everyone eventually" and "we know who to call first."
